Use this regional shortlist to compare a day out or choose one base for a longer stay. It is a set of editorial groupings for browsing, not a suggested route connecting every city or a claim about regional transport times.
Each entry below shares its dates, setting and admission summary with its main guide. Follow the city page for separate venues, closures and current-source links. Choose the pace and arrival route around your group rather than the number of markets you can fit into a day.
Compare the arrival and access arrangements
A regional shortlist helps you find alternatives, but each journey still needs its own plan. Compare the arrival point and the published access information below before choosing a date. These summaries are shared with the city hubs; they avoid assuming that a station name establishes a step-free route or that a nearby hotel meets your room requirements.
Belfast
Choose your arrival point on the map and allow extra time for market crowds. Check the transport operator for your exact date before setting out.
Temporary market layouts, queues and street surfaces can affect access. Contact the organiser for the current step-free routes and exact accessible toilet locations.

Derry~Londonderry
Derry~Londonderry railway station is across the River Foyle from the city centre. Use Translink to plan the complete journey, onward connections and your actual return service. Pump Street is in the hilly historic centre; consider luggage and access needs when choosing the onward walk or taxi. Check the organiser’s current street arrangements before driving or arranging a drop-off. Avoid assuming the December market operates on the dates of November’s separate Guildhall Craft Fair.
Plan for the Cathedral Quarter’s slopes as well as the distance. The market is on Pump Street in Derry’s historic centre. The organiser’s resident information confirms the operating dates and hours, but does not provide a detailed 2026 step-free visitor route, measured gradients or accessible-toilet map. Ask the market team about the current entrance and any restrictions before travelling if you use a wheelchair, scooter, walking aid or pushchair.
Approaching the market
The city-centre streets rise from the riverside towards the walled centre. Maldron Hotel’s official location advice explicitly warns that this hill can be difficult with heavy luggage. Keep the same consideration in mind when planning a wheelchair route or travelling with limited stamina. A short mapped walk is not a guarantee of a gentle or step-free approach. The hotel route times in this guide measure ordinary walking routes; they are not accessibility audits.
The city’s railway station is on the other side of the River Foyle from the centre. Use Translink’s journey planner for the complete onward journey, including connections, accessible vehicles and the last service. Arrange assistance with the operator and explain the equipment you use. If taking a taxi, request a vehicle that can accommodate it and agree a practical set-down point near the market, subject to the event’s current street arrangements.
Toilets and indoor breaks
Confirm a suitable toilet in advance with the organiser or Visit Derry. Ask about opening hours, locks or keys, transfer space and whether an adult changing bench and hoist are needed. Avoid assuming a café toilet or a building marked accessible meets every requirement. The council’s Guildhall access page is useful for the separate Guildhall building and includes an autism social narrative, but some physical-access wording on that page refers to the Tower Museum. Check the precise building and facility directly rather than transferring those details to Pump Street.
Quieter visits
A first visit in daylight may make the street layout easier to assess. This is an editorial suggestion, not an advertised quiet session. Buskers, festive shopping and food queues can change the sound and crowd levels. Ask whether the team can suggest a less busy time on your chosen date, and keep a nearby indoor break available. Allow more time in wet or icy conditions and recheck weather updates before leaving home.
Contacts and help
The market’s public resident information gives jkmcnicholl@gmail.com for questions about access and other arrangements. Explain the practical detail you need confirmed: a cabin approach, assistance-dog admission, seating, a toilet, a drop-off point or a quieter route. Visit Derry can help with wider visitor planning, and Translink handles public-transport access enquiries. Confirm accessible accommodation features directly with your chosen property before paying.
