You want food and craft browsing in the main square.
You want a map pin to establish a step-free arrival.
Start with a daylight circuit of Rynek Główny and return for the square after dark.
Ask Artim for your arrival route and entrance before setting out; the square’s map pin does not establish step-free access.
Start with a circuit of Rynek Główny before choosing your first stall. Kraków’s organiser Artim, acting for the Kraków Merchants’ Congregation, announces a Christmas market beginning on 27 November 2026. Its exhibitor invitation gives a closing date of 3 January 2027, with a possible extension to 6 January. Plan within the earlier period and check the final announcement if your trip depends on the last days.
The market belongs in a square whose trading story reaches back centuries. The Cloth Hall and the surrounding Old Town buildings make the setting worth a visit in daylight as well as after dark. Leave a gap between those two circuits for somewhere warm indoors. This is a suggested pace for your weekend, rather than a timetable of performances or a promise that a particular stall will be open all day.
Artim’s invitation favours Polish products, especially handicrafts, and lists Christmas decorations, ceramics, wooden goods, candles and other seasonal gifts among its categories. Ask about the person or workshop behind anything that catches your eye, and check how a delicate purchase can travel home. The organiser’s general introduction also mentions food sellers with cheese, cured meat, sausages, bread and confectionery. Those are browsing leads; the actual counter menu and ingredient information should decide your order.
Keep the second day flexible enough for the streets around the square and another short market visit before departure. A central hotel makes it easier to return for a rest or leave shopping safely. Check the current programme, holiday opening arrangements and airport train before committing to a tightly packed itinerary. You will enjoy the square more if your last warm drink does not have to be swallowed while watching the clock.

Rynek Główny is the market’s main setting, but a square pin does not describe a step-free journey from your train or hotel. Ask Artim which entrance and surface route will be easiest once the temporary 2026 stalls are installed. Choose a circuit with enough space to turn and reverse direction, and ask whether a performance area or queue will interrupt it. Treat the Cloth Hall, church interiors and any tower visit separately: their building access is not established by the presence of the outdoor market.
