Birmingham, Nottingham, Lichfield, Stratford-upon-Avon, Worcester, Lincoln are the market destinations compared in this The Midlands guide. Choose a setting and arrival route, then open the full destination guide for dates and practical details.
Use this regional shortlist to compare a day out or choose one base for a longer stay. It is a set of editorial groupings for browsing, not a suggested route connecting every city or a claim about regional transport times.
Each entry below shares its dates, setting and admission summary with its main guide. Follow the city page for separate venues, closures and current-source links. Choose the pace and arrival route around your group rather than the number of markets you can fit into a day.

Follow the glow along New Street, find hot food or drink to eat and leave room for a song in Victoria Square. Birmingham’s German market makes an easy city-centre day out, with plenty of places to step indoors between visits to the stalls.

A regional shortlist helps you find alternatives, but each journey still needs its own plan. Compare the arrival point and the published access information below before choosing a date. These summaries are shared with the city hubs; they avoid assuming that a station name establishes a step-free route or that a nearby hotel meets your room requirements.
Birmingham
The organiser says three mainline stations are within walking distance, but does not publish walk durations on the checked page. Its travel page warns that the market is inside Birmingham's Clean Air Zone. Navigation Street council multi-storey has no lift.
Step-free routes run throughout the market. Accessible toilets and baby changing are beside the Victoria Square stage, and assistance dogs are welcome. Weekdays and Sunday evenings are generally quieter than Friday and Saturday evenings.
Official FAQ suggests coach drop-off near Royal Concert Hall and says coaches can use Forest Ground park-and-ride with tram onward to Old Market Square; confirm operational arrangements before travel. Official contact page has a getting-here section. Nottingham rail arrival and NET tram links require live journey checking rather than guessed last departures. The council transport guide gives an approximate 12-minute walk from Nottingham Station and Old Market Square tram stop beside the event; car parks listed include Lace Market, Trinity Square, Broad Marsh and Victoria Centre. Its parking promotion expired in February 2026: do not reuse that charge.
Most routes use decking or flat surfaces. Wheelchairs can use the rink and Sky Skate with assistance. A lift serves the upper bars; the accessible toilet is downstairs in Sur La Piste. The Ice Bar has a small-stone floor and is a poor choice for wheelchair access. The wheel requires a transfer and a step into the gondola.
See organiser travel advice and check your dated return journey.
Ask the organiser about access at both indoor venues and the outdoor route before travelling. Lichfield District Council lists accessible public toilets at the bus station, plus Changing Places facilities at Swan Road and The Friary. Check opening hours and RADAR-key arrangements on its detailed listings; the council says city-centre toilets normally open at least 7.30am–4.30pm unless closed early.
Choose your arrival point on the map and allow extra time for market crowds. Check the transport operator for your exact date before setting out.
Temporary market layouts, queues and street surfaces can affect access. Contact the organiser for the current step-free routes and exact accessible toilet locations.
The organiser recommends public transport or arriving early because city-centre car parks become busy. Worcester has two city railway stations and a central bus station. Compare Worcester Foregate Street and Worcester Shrub Hill for your route, and book rail assistance with the operator if required. Check the current road closures and any event transport announcement before driving: older park-and-ride timetables should not be assumed to apply in 2026. Choose a return train before the market and allow extra time through crowded streets.
The fayre uses historic city-centre streets and attracts large crowds. Before travelling, ask the council’s event team for the current step-free route from your arrival point, the temporary street layout and accessible-toilet locations. Avoid assuming every cobbled side street or performance area offers the same route. Check station access with the train operator and agree assistance for both journeys. A visit early in a published session is our suggestion for easier browsing, not a designated quiet hour. Contact christmas@worcester.gov.uk about particular requirements.
Arrive at Lincoln Central, then plan the climb to the cathedral separately. Uphill Lincoln and the lower waterfront sit at different levels: a short map distance does not make every route suitable for wheels. Use the cathedral’s visitor information for the current entrance and local transport links. Check return services and engineering work with National Rail before booking a twilight session; avoid assuming daytime shuttle or park-and-ride hours cover the evening finish.
The cathedral’s general access guide describes ramps and accessible internal routes, with exceptions and some uneven surfaces. Level approaches are described from Castle Square and Eastgate; the route from the lower city involves a steep hill. The Visitor Centre has a platform lift connecting with the cloisters and a ground-floor Changing Places toilet, accessed with a RADAR key. Staff in the shop or café can help with a key. Contact visitors@lincolncathedral.com or 01522 561600 about market entrances, queues, route widths and assistance before booking. Only assistance dogs may enter the market. No dedicated quiet session is promised here.
These are editorial suggestions for comparing a trip, not a measured ranking or a promise that one market suits everyone. The choices use the city guides’ retained information. Follow the full guide for its sources.
The dates here are shared with our city guides and calendar. Separate venues, closed days and split weekends still matter, so check the full guide for your visit.
Market admission, food, drink and attraction tickets are different things. Read the entry arrangements shown for your chosen city, then check the organiser’s current booking terms.
Can I rely on a map pin for an accessible entrance?
No. Pins locate the market setting rather than a guaranteed entrance or step-free route. Check the accessibility guide and confirm essential arrangements directly with the organiser.
Choose between a city-centre circuit and an outing built around a shorter market run. Some markets use separate weekends or a single fayre day; the dates below come directly from each hub.
